My Story

How I learned to be my own kind of beautiful…

Kia ora and welcome, my name is Jane Walters. I’m so glad you stopped by to hear about my story.

The first thing I’d like to share with you is that even in the darkest moments when it feels like there are no options left, there are. My own life story has led me on many painful twists and turns, but ultimately, I have learned that there are always opportunities for healing and growth. Sometimes you just need someone to help you to find them.

Like every good story, I will start at the beginning. I was born in 1970 and raised in a small mining village in the heart of England called Sutton-in-Ashfield. Our family was a little unique – we were raised primarily by my dad, who was a remarkable man. Not having a mum around meant I grew up in ways I wasn’t ready for and shut down parts of me that were wounded. From an early age I learned to adapt, my true self taking a back seat.

Struggling within the mainstream education system, I left school with no qualifications and low self-esteem. My first job was working with woman clothes, making beautiful garments in woman fashion, then into upholstery. but quickly realised that there had to be something more to life than work and money. I yearned for something that I couldn’t even name. Perhaps that resonates with you? I needed to find my purpose.

Counselling Young People

I felt a calling to help improve the lives of young people, so in 1995 I completed a counselling course, moving on to work with teens as a youth worker. Part of my role was working with young offenders within the Restorative Justice programme. This was the beginning of my journey into work in service of helping others.

Moving to New Zealand

After a fateful holiday to New Zealand in 2000, I instantly fell in love with the place, and my soon-to-be husband. I quickly packed up my whole life in England, gave up my jobs, and gave away all my possessions. I said goodbye to my family and a lifetime of beautiful friends, then returned to New Zealand to start a whole new life.

Within four months of arriving I was pregnant with my son Murphy. Here we were, living in a very remote part of the country in a house with no power and phone. Complete isolation. I became a stay-at-home parent and within five years, I became deeply depressed. I picked up unhealthy habits, my marriage broke down, and I was broke. I had reached a very low point in my life. A journey of healing was inevitable and necessary.

Healing practices

My first step was to learn The principles of Reiki, then receiving Reiki 1, Indian Head Massage and EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique). Through these teachings and the support of some wonderful people I eventually began to heal.

The next major transition for me was when my beautiful father died. It was a time of utter heartbreak and grief. Soon after, it felt like my dad was sending me messages. I needed to find something I was passionate about that would also be a positive force in the world. It felt like my dad was behind me to saying “yes” to becoming a Life Coach.

Studying to become a Law of Attraction Life Coach

I enrolled to become A Law of Attraction Life Coach. This, above all else I’ve experienced, has impacted my life in so many positive ways I could not have imagined.

Over the last year I’ve stepped into my authentic self. I’ve awakened to a new way of being.

I have given up addictions with the support and tools from counselling, endless books and a recovery programme.

Through the years I’ve walked away from numerous unproductive relationships, partly due to my conditioning and my partner’s. They left me broken and feeling unworthy. I’ve reached out and found tools to gain clarity and self-worth, and now I’ve relaxed into accepting myself and loving myself as I am.

Since coming to New Zealand in 2001, my lifestyle, my thinking and my choices have become more authentically aligned with my soul’s need to evolve. Since my dad passed on, a bigger world has opened up and it seems to me my dad is behind me all the way.

Which brings me to today and putting myself out into the wider world.
